Why choose our school?

Ayr State School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment for students and staff, an environment in which students have opportunities to engage in quality learning experiences and acquire values supportive of their lifelong well-being. By the time the children graduate, we want our learners to be happy, confident, self-managed individuals and socially responsible citizens.

In 2016 the school has an enrolment of 146 students from prep to year 6, six classroom teachers and ten non-teaching staff. Fifty-two percent of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent. The school curriculum comprises a program of the Australian Curriculum in English, mathematics, science, history, geography, health and physical education, the arts, technology and Language other than English (LOTE) Japanese. A comprehensive assessment and reporting framework tracks the literacy and numeracy development of all children across all year levels.

The school community recognises the diversity of students attending our school and strives to address equity and social justice issues, in meeting the needs of this range of educational target groups including gifted and talented students, students with disabilities and disadvantaged students.

As a school we exist to maximise the educational outcomes of all students and we are relentless in our pursuit of improvement.
